Trivento Tops Global Rankings as the Most Chosen Argentine Wine Brand

MENDOZA, Argentina, (Sept. 25, 2025) – In a shifting global market, Trivento has once again secured its position as the world’s most chosen Argentine wine brand, marking the fifth consecutive year at the top. According to the latest report from leading beverage industry analyst IWSR Drinks Market Analysis (May 2025), Trivento now leads in both value and volume, a first in this five-year streak.

This achievement reflects the winery’s long-term strategy centered on quality, innovation, and authentic consumer engagement.

“Our continued leadership is a testament to the dedication of our entire team,” said Marcos Jofré, CEO of Trivento. “We’re proud to see our values and vision resonate globally. This milestone inspires us to keep investing in what we believe in.”

Navigating a Changing Global Landscape

The recognition comes amid a broader transformation in alcohol consumption. Richard Halstead, COO of Consumer Insights at IWSR, notes that while overall volumes are declining, value is seeing a modest recovery—driven by economic shifts and evolving consumer preferences toward moderation.

“Leisure activities are increasingly digital—streaming, gaming—competing with traditional social occasions where wine once played a central role,” Halstead explains.

Despite these headwinds, Trivento has outperformed the market. While Argentine wine sales dropped 7.3% in value and 13.2% in volume (IWSR, 2023 vs. 2024), the winery posted a 5.4% revenue increase, with only a slight 0.6% dip in units sold.

“This growth reflects our ability to listen, adapt, and plan with a long-term vision,” said Silvina Barros, Trivento’s Marketing Manager.

Strong Performance Across Key Markets

• United Kingdom: Sales of the Golden Reserve line rose 34.2% in volume and 36.8% in value. Trivento Reserve Malbec remains the best-selling red wine SKU in Great Britain (NielsenIQ Scantrack, 52w to 9 August 2025).

• United States: Value and volume grew by 9% and 9.4%, respectively. Trivento Reserve White Malbec surged 195.2% in volume, while Cabernet Sauvignon jumped 226.8% (IRI, US Trends & Category Overview, 52 weeks ending August 3, 2025).

• Brazil: The brand maintains the accelerated pace of 2024 and grows 48% in sales value in 2025. White Malbec continues to be the best-selling Argentinian white wine in retail, with a growth of 21% in value (sell-out date YTD August 2025).

• Mexico: Trivento Reserve ranks #2 among Argentine-origin wines and leads the MX$200–300 price segment (sell-out data YTD March 2025).

Innovation, Premium Wines, and Cultural Connection

Available in over 60 countries, Trivento continues to build emotional connections with consumers. Its “Sobremesa” campaign celebrates the cherished tradition of lingering at the table, sharing stories and wine—a practice deeply rooted in Latin culture. Integrating these cultural touchpoints into Trivento’s marketing strategy strengthens the ability to connect with consumers in ways that go beyond the glass. The portfolio includes the innovative White Malbec, the award-winning Golden Reserve Malbec (95 points from Decanter, 96 from the International Wine Challenge), and the iconic Eolo Malbec, sourced from century-old vines. Sustainability Commitment: Net Zero by 2040 Trivento complements its winemaking excellence with a strong commitment to sustainability. The winery has accelerated its carbon neutrality goal by a decade, embedding eco-friendly practices across its vineyards, production, and operations.

1000 Stories Unveils Majestic Collection Inspired by the Spirit of the American Bison

Bold new packaging elevates brand identity while deepening commitment to wildlife conservation through expanded partnership with Yellowstone Forever.

HOPLAND, Calif. (September 17, 2025) — Craft wine brand 1000 Stories today announced the launch of its Majestic collection, marking an evolution in both design and purpose. The Majestic collection reflects the ongoing journey of the 1000 Stories brand, celebrating its unique voice and vision in American wine.

The collection’s design draws inspiration from the brand’s longtime icon, the American bison, reimagined as a symbol of strength, heritage and untamed spirit. It amplifies the brand’s core narrative of exploration and storytelling while highlighting its focus on purpose-driven work, notably its partnership with Yellowstone Forever, the official nonprofit partner of Yellowstone National Park. This collaboration supports ongoing bison conservation efforts in one of the last places on earth where wild herds roam freely.

“Consumers today are increasingly shopping with their values in mind, using their dollars to support brands that stand for something meaningful,” said Tiffany Tran, Director of Marketing for 1000 Stories. “That’s what makes this collection so exciting. We’ve elevated the bison as the hero on our label, and in doing so we’re not just making a powerful visual statement, we’re reinforcing our commitment to wildlife conservation through our partnership with Yellowstone Forever. Every bottle becomes a chance for consumers to be part of that story.”

Since its founding, 1000 Stories has been known for pushing boundaries, from being the first brand to age wine in bourbon barrels to its continued focus on powerful storytelling and authentic partnerships. The launch of the Majestic collection marks the next chapter in that journey. The front label introduces a striking new visual identity, featuring a fully illustrated bison charging forward with power and purpose. On the back label, the brand’s longstanding partnership with Yellowstone Forever is proudly featured.

“With this new collection for 1000 Stories, our goal was to strike a bold visual chord with a younger audience, without losing the soul of the brand,” said Jerome Maureze, Executive Creative Director at oneteam™, the agency behind the redesign. “Woodcut-inspired linework, saturated color, and refined copper detailing create texture, depth, and shelf impact. Angled bands of color suggest motion and momentum, serving as a visual cue to the brand’s belief that every bottle tells a story. The final design feels fresh, elevated, and unapologetically expressive.”

To celebrate the release of the new collection, 1000 Stories will sponsor the annual Young Patron New York Benefit event hosted by Yellowstone Forever in New York City on September 30. The brand will provide wine for guests and donate a curated wine set for the evening’s auction, supporting efforts to protect bison and preserve their natural habitat. Approximately 400 attendees are expected.

Majestic collection wines will begin rolling out to stores nationwide in September 2025. The collection will feature a Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Blend and Pinot Noir, and retail for $16.99.

Bonterra Unveils Ranch Wine, a Fresh Spin on Wine for Ice Buckets and Casual Moments

Just in time for summer, the sustainable wine icon unveils its boldest sip yet: a flavor-forward trio crafted for the cooler, not the cellar.

HOPLAND, Calif., (June 18, 2025) — Bonterra, the iconic name in sustainable wine, is breaking new ground with the launch of Ranch Wine: a bold, breezy trio of lightly effervescent, lower-ABV offerings coming to resort patios and cold boxes near you now. Made from sustainably grown California grapes, Ranch Wine delivers vibrant, flavorful blends crafted for pouring over ice, dressing with fruit, or sipping chilled. The fresh take on wine speaks directly to flexible, flavor-driven occasions beverage fans say are missing from the category.

Ranch Wine debuts with three bright, fruit-forward blends with 11% ABV and no added flavors (SRP $14.99 each):

  • Pineapple Key Lime – Tropical and zesty with notes of citrus, lime, and a breezy lift of effervescence that keeps things crisp
  • Strawberry Hibiscus – Juicy and floral with hints of strawberry, hibiscus, and spice—fresh, bright and perfect to sip or spritz
  • Chillable Cherry Wild Raspberry – Bold berry flavor with cherry, raspberry, and citrus notes in a red that’s made to chill.

The name Ranch Wine nods to Bonterra’s home ranch in Mendocino County, California and winks at the rising popularity of drinks meeting today’s growing thirst for relaxed, no-fuss refreshment. Merging Bonterra’s winemaking credibility with the casual, flavor-led energy of ready-to-drink beverages, it offers those who left wine for bold flavor and lower-ABV options a reason to return, while inviting new fans in.

“With Ranch Wine, we saw an opportunity to reimagine the role wine can play—vibrant, flavor-forward, and at home in a cooler full of seltzers and sodas,” said Kate Herbert, Bonterra’s Sr. Director of Marketing. “Survey data1 show that LDA Gen Z is the first cohort to move away from grape varietal as a top purchase driver when considering wine, instead gravitating to word of mouth, lower alcohol, and fit for casual occasions. Ranch Wine—named for flavor, not traditional wine varietals—meets these wine fans where they are.”

Crafted by award-winning Bonterra winemaker Margaret Leonardi-Pruett, Ranch Wine arrives this month in poolside bars, resort patios, and at select national retailers including Sprouts, Albertsons, Safeway, and Total Wine & More, with Target and others to follow.

About Casillero del Diablo
Rooted in a mysterious 19th Century tale about the “Devil’s Cellar,” Casillero del Diablo is a legend more than 140 years in the making. In the 1880s, Don Melchor de Concha y Toro was revered for crafting some of Chile’s finest wines. To fend off thieves who pilfered coveted bottles from his cellar, Don Melchor spread a rumor that the Devil himself guarded the wines. The tale he spun kept his cellar untouched, sparking a mysterious legend that has passed from generation to generation. Today, Casillero del Diablo crafts award-winning wines that evoke Chile’s extraordinary wine regions, and are sold across 100 countries across the world. The collection includes a Cabernet Sauvignon sourced primarily from Maipo Valley; a Carmenere consistently acclaimed by wine critics; a bright, coastal Sauvignon Blanc; and a crisp Rosé. With more than 118 scores of 90 points and above in the past ten years, Casillero del Diablo is an unforgettable source or exemplary Chilean wines that live up to their legend.

Chilean Wine Don Melchor Vintage 2021 Named “Wine Of The Year” By Wine Spectator

Viña Concha y Toro’s icon wine, Don Melchor, has secured the top spot on Wine Spectator’s prestigious Top 100 Wines of 2024 list.

SANTIAGO, Chile, (Nov. 21, 2024) – The Chilean wine industry has achieved a significant milestone with Don Melchor 2021 being named #1 on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of 2024 list. This iconic Cabernet Sauvignon is produced by one of Viña Cocha y Toro’s subsidiaries, Viña Don Melchor.

Wine Spectator, the world’s leading wine authority, evaluated nearly 10,500 wines from across the globe this year, with its editorial team selecting the most exciting wines for their annual Top 100 list. Top 100 wines are chosen on the basis of quality, value, availability and “X-factor,” meaning the story behind the wine.

In its official release announcing its Top 10 Wines of 2024, Wine Spectator states that Don Melchor has positioned itself as a benchmark of excellence, both in Chile and the global wine industry. Its 2021 vintage, which received 96 points, was celebrated:

“Chilean wine has been setting new standards in recent years. Don Melchor’s meticulous approach across three-plus decades has cemented its legacy as a benchmark for the country and made Don Melchor Cabernet Sauvignon Puente Alto Vineyard one of Chile’s most sought-after Cabs. It now is honored as Wine Spectator´s 2024 Wine of the Year.”

Don Melchor 2021 marks the 35th vintage of the Don Melchor portfolio. Throughout its successful trajectory, Don Melchor has been characterized by its extraordinary quality and consistency, obtaining the highest recognitions granted by specialized media to a Chilean wine, positioning itself as an icon and true benchmark in the global wine industry. At the same time, with this notable distinction, its Puente Alto vineyard is crowned as one of the world’s great terroirs for the production of wines of global stature.

“It is a source of pride and gratitude that Don Melchor 2021 has been chosen number one by the prestigious Wine Spectator magazine. For me, this is undoubtedly the highest distinction received by Don Melchor in its remarkable trajectory. This, on the one hand, is a consequence of having the Puente Alto terroir, one of the best origins in the world for the production of the Cabernet Sauvignon variety, as well as the undisputed consistency that this wine has demonstrated over the years, this being the fourth time that our icon Cabernet Sauvignon has been ranked among the top ten wines in this publication,” says Eduardo Guilisasti, CEO of Viña Concha y Toro.

“It is a great honor to receive this recognition. I personally believe that, in order to produce a great wine, it is necessary to have a clear vision of where we want to go, staying true to the essence of the terroir, because it is the terroir that truly guides us. We are aware of this, and that is why in each of its vintages we seek to express the beauty of the perfect balance of the Puente Alto terroir. Don Melchor is born from the stony soil of this origin, the cold wind coming down from the Andes Mountains, its old vines and the careful work of man in the vineyard, making it a unique place in the world to produce a great Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon of Andean character. This important recognition, therefore, not only crowns this exceptional terroir, but also the dedicated, meticulous and committed work of so many people who have sought the excellence of Don Melchor year after year,” explains Enrique Tirado, General Manager and Technical Director of Viña Don Melchor since 1997.

“On its shoulders, Don Melchor has been able to carry with pride, excellence and elegance a great Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon, whose origin and legacy dates back more than 150 years of history, and whose vines were brought from Bordeaux, France. Its genetic material has been guarded for generations, representing a unique value within the global wine industry,” explains Isabel Guilisasti, Vice President of Fine Wines at Viña Concha y Toro.

She adds: “We receive this prestigious recognition with the responsibility to continue delivering with each new vintage of Don Melchor, our deep and historic vocation for excellence, and the strong commitment to preserve, through diverse agroecological practices and innovations, this precious place for future generations. We would like to thank all our customers and distributors for their great commitment in bringing Don Melchor to our consumers around the world.”

The complete list of Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of the Year 2024 is posted at www.winespectator.com , and will also appear in the December 31, 2024 print edition.

About Viña Don Melchor

Viña Don Melchor is dedicated to the production of the icon Cabernet Sauvignon Don Melchor. The eponymous vineyard that gives life to this wine is located in the renowned appellation of Puente Alto, in the Maipo Valley, at the foot of the Andes Mountains, at 650 meters above sea level, on the third alluvial terrace of the northern bank of the Maipo River.

The vineyard currently covers 314 acres (125 hectares) – mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, with small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot – and is divided into seven main parcels, further subdivided into 151 micro-parcels. One of the most important qualities of the vineyard is its soil: poor in nutrients and, at the same time, composed of clays, silts, sands, and rounded stones, ensuring good drainage and low fertility, which allows for a restriction in the vegetative growth of the plants, favoring the concentration and natural maturity of the clusters.

The vines grown in the Don Melchor vineyard come from a massal selection, a propagation method that ensures genetic diversity from the first pre-phylloxera plants brought from Bordeaux, France, in the 19th century. In 2004, in order to preserve this material, the best 3,000 plants of the vineyard were identified, from which the material for all future renovations of the vineyard is obtained today.

Based on its commitment to Excellence, Innovation and Sustainability, this year Viña Don Melchor also revealed its “sundial vineyard” project, which was planted in 2018, and which this year was unveiled to rise as a new path to continue advancing in the field of sustainability, the preservation of biodiversity in the vineyard and how to face the challenges posed by climate change, as well as being a contribution to science and an important source of information regarding the cultivation of the vine.

About Don Melchor 2021

“The 2021 vintage provided us with very expressive wines, brimming with concentration, dense and long, that cast a spotlight on the fruit and textural quality of every variety grown in the Don Melchor Vineyard, displaying a fine balance between finesse and energy, with extremely expressive flavors and aromas,” describes Enrique Tirado of the 2021 vintage of Don Melchor.

The final blend of Wine Spectator’s first-place winning wine among the best wines of 2024, includes 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Merlot. It was aged for 15 months in French oak barrels, where 68% were new barrels and 32% second use barrels. It is then aged for another year, developing the complexity and elegance of Don Melchor.

Every year in the village of Lamarque, Bordeaux, France, Enrique Tirado meets with Eric Boissenot, son of the renowned Bordeaux consultant Jacques Boissenot, who advises hundreds of wineries, including Château Mouton-Rothschild, Château Latour and Château Léoville Las Cases de Bordeaux. Together with him, the winemaker tastes between 150 and 200 lots of wines from the Don Melchor vineyard, selecting only those that, in exact proportion, will determine a new vintage of the icon Cabernet Sauvignon, Don Melchor.

Bonterra Organic Estates Releases New Data Demonstrating the Impact of Climate-Smart Practices on Vineyard Soil Health

Leading Mendocino County winery has partnered with Agrology to monitor vineyard microbial activity and showcase soil health outcomes from regenerative and organic farming practices.

Hopland, Calif., Oct 7, 2024, – Bonterra Organic Estates, the largest Regenerative Organic Certified® winery in the U.S., continues to advocate for the advancement of regenerative viticulture by sharing data that showcases how their farming practices enhance soil health. The California-based winery utilizes Agrology’s advanced soil and carbon monitoring technology to gather unprecedented real-time insights into the climate-smart impacts of its regenerative farming methods.

“In wine, the soil is our story and we now have deeper insights into how our viticulture practices are actually impacting the long-term legacy of that story,” said Joseph Brinkley, Senior Director of Regenerative Organic Development at Bonterra Organic Estates. “For many decades, we’ve recognized the significant benefits of regenerative and organic farming practices for the health and vitality of our vineyards. Having real-time data to validate these benefits and guide our future actions is transformative.”

Since spring 2024, Bonterra has been using Agrology’s technology to monitor soil health and carbon in its Mendocino County vineyards. The winery will continue building a data baseline through 2025, allowing it to track improvements in soil respiration and overall health on a monthly and yearly basis while comparing the effects of different viticulture practices. Agrology’s system measures soil microbial activity, moisture and soil carbon providing growers with real-time insights into the biological life of the soil–crucial for maintaining a healthy vineyard ecosystem and addressing climate change.

METHOD AND TOP-LINE RESULTS

Agrology sensors monitor soil microbial activity and function through the lens of soil respiration. Measuring the total amount of this CO2 respiration indicates the total amount of biological activity in the soil, and has been used for more than 50 years by researchers and academics to assess and quantify soil health. As soil microbes go about their lives–digesting organic matter, cycling nutrients, and building soil structure–they exhale carbon dioxide, just as humans do. The more active the microbes, the higher the soil respiration, indicating healthier, more biologically active soil. Bonterra has deployed Agrology sensors in several of its iconic vineyards in Mendocino County. Data collected is being referenced against a nearby vineyard that uses general sustainable (but not organic or regenerative) farming practices.

In the highest performing Bonterra vineyard, Blue Heron, the average soil respiration was nearly triple that of the reference vineyard, indicating a three-fold increase in microbial activity thanks to Bonterra’s regenerative program. This increased biological activity, measured from mid-May to early September 2024, contributes to a variety of positive ecological impacts such as improved nutrient cycling (leading to increased vine health), improved water holding capacity, better soil structure and aggregate formation, as well as better pest and disease resistance.

Other measured results from the same timeframe include:

-Greater Total Soil Respiration in regenerative vineyards – This measures the overall soil respiration for the season so far, which is a key indicator of microbial activity.
-Across five Bonterra vineyards, the average Cumulative Soil Respiration value was 182.82 g/m² or 74.54% greater than that of the reference vineyard (104.74 g/m²).
-Bonterra’s Blue Heron vineyard was 360.870 g/m² or approximately 244.53% better than the reference vineyard Cumulative Soil Respiration value.

-Improved Average Soil Microbial Biomass Carbon in regenerative vineyards –This measures the carbon stored in the soil’s living microbes, including bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms, which are crucial for soil structure and nutrient cycling.
-The average Soil Microbial Biomass Carbon across Bonterra’s five vineyards was 390.84 mgC/kg or 6.35% greater than that of the reference vineyard (367.490 mgC/kg).
-In Bonterra’s Blue Heron vineyard, the average Soil Microbial Biomass Carbon was 452.804 mgC/kg or approximately 23.22% better than the reference vineyard.

“Bonterra’s commitment to regenerative organic practices has set the standard in the wine industry,” said Adam Koeppel, CEO of Agrology. “Healthier soils respire more CO2, cycle nutrients more efficiently, and foster a thriving ecosystem. We look forward to supporting their ongoing efforts to enhance soil health and biological function, as well as drive improvements in vine health, wine quality, and making an overall positive impact on the climate.”

Bonterra’s pioneering leadership in the wine industry is well established, with certifications including Regenerative Organic Certified®, TRUE Zero Waste and B Corp. By harnessing the Agrology platform, the winery is further elevating its commitment to environmental stewardship. Agrology’s sensors continuously monitor ecosystem outcomes and growing conditions, enabling Bonterra to experiment with different practices and refine its regenerative strategies such as cover cropping, sheep grazing, compost application, reduced/no tillage and planting for biodiversity. Each of these methods plays a crucial role in enhancing farm, fruit, and soil health while building resilience against climate change.

Join Bonterra on October 30th
Bonterra Organic Estates and Agrology will host a webinar on Wednesday, October 30th @10am PST titled, “The Ecological and Business Outcomes of Quantifying & Building Soil Health.” This discussion will explore how measuring soil microbial activity and overall ecosystem health can inform the impact of a regenerative program in terms of ecological and business outcomes. Attendees will learn first hand from Joseph Brinkley, one of the leading experts in regenerative viticulture. This webinar is free to attend and interested parties can register here.

Across the Trivento portfolio, the winery has established a distribution network spanning more than 60 markets globally.

“We are proud to see Bodega Trivento’s impact extend far beyond our home in Mendoza, Argentina,” says Marcos Jofré, CEO. “Domestic wine sales rose by 63% in 2023, and our other key markets, including the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom and Brazil, also saw significant growth.” Bodega Trivento is the second-highest netting sales brand within the Viña Concha y Toro family of wineries.

For years, Trivento’s continual investments in vineyard holdings and cutting-edge green technology have enabled the winery to achieve even greater efficiency in resource utilization as well as control over the quality of every single Trivento bottling. Trivento Eolo Malbec is the pinnacle of Trivento’s offerings, an exquisite single-vineyard bottling from century old vines in the heart of Luján de Cuyo. Since its launch, the wine has garnered acclaim from some of the world’s most renowned wine critics.

Trivento Reserve Malbec was the second-largest wine brand in the U.S. in 2023, and the winery’s impressive growth is continuing into 2024. According to a series of NielsenIQ Scantrack reports from the 52-week period ending Feb. 24, 2024, Trivento is the top Argentine wine brand in the British market and the Trivento Reserve Malbec claims the No. 1 spot in red wine market sales, considering all origins. Building on the winery’s success with red Malbec, Bodega Trivento revolutionized the popular category when it launched the Trivento Reserve White Malbec in 2019. The wine launched in the United States last year with the 2022 vintage in Florida, New York and Georgia—and immediately sold out. With the 2023 vintage, 16 additional states have opened distribution, production has scaled up to meet demand, and numerous other Argentinian wineries have since followed suit in producing white Malbecs of their own.

“American consumers have a strong connection with Trivento, and today it is the second-largest Argentinian wine brand in the premium segment in the U.S.,” said Rodrigo Maturana, President of Marketing for Viña Concha y Toro USA. “This impressive growth is a testament to Trivento’s innovative spirit, unwavering commitment to sustainability, and excellence in winemaking. As we continue to expand Trivento’s distribution stateside, we look forward to bringing these beloved wines to more and more consumers.”

One of the largest B Corp-certified organizations in the Argentinian agricultural sector, Bodega Trivento continually commits to sustainable agricultural, vinicultural, and social and economic practices across its three production facilities. As a result of this ongoing work, the winery recently advanced its voluntary commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 10 years, shifting the goal date from 2050 to 2040. Guided by the principles of sustainable innovation, the winery plans to continue infrastructure development at the winery’s home base in Maipú, Argentina, building upon its robust gastronomic and hospitality programming as well as wine portfolio.

About Bodega Trivento

Rooted in the energy of Argentina’s passion for wine, Trivento—meaning three winds—is synonymous with expressive, terroir-driven Malbec that paints a vivid portrait of Mendoza’s high-altitude vineyards in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. The character and quality of each wine is guided by the spirited vision of Chief Winemaker Germán Di Cesare, who honors the varied soils, mountain snowmelt and powerful winds that shape Mendoza’s vines.

In the United States, three distinct Trivento collections highlight the unique characteristics of two coveted sub-regions in Mendoza, Luján de Cuyo and Uco Valley: Eolo, a single-vineyard luxury Malbec from century-old vines; Golden Reserve, a passionate expression of historic Malbec vines and Reserve, a beloved collection from estate vines. Founded in 1996, Trivento today welcomes visitors to experience the wine and culture of Mendoza at Bodega Trivento in Maipú or through a virtual tour.

Veteran Bonterra Organic Estates Winemaker Announces Retirement

Jeff Cichocki stepping down at the end of June 2024.

HOPLAND, CALIFORNIA June 25, 2024 — Bonterra Organic Estates, the largest Regenerative Organic Certified® winery in the United States, announced today that veteran winemaker Jeff Cichocki will retire at the end of June, after 17 years with the company.

“We could not be more grateful to Jeff for his many years of hard work, strong leadership, and exceptional wines,” said John Kane, general manager of Bonterra Organic Estates. “As a winemaker who grew up through the cellar, Jeff has an incredible gut feel for winemaking decisions. You can see him putting a blend together in his mind – the 10,000-hour rule in action. His talent and passion will be sorely missed.”

An Environmental Studies major at Sonoma State University, Cichocki began his career in environmental planning in Sonoma County but soon found himself spending time in the wine cellar. Beginning as an apprentice at Mill Creek Winery in Healdsburg, he moved up to Cellar Master at Matanzas Creek Winery in Bennett Valley, then on to Cakebread Cellars in Napa Valley, B.R. Cohn in Sonoma Valley, and Jeriko Estate Winery in Hopland, not far from Bonterra Organic Estates’ iconic McNab Ranch. In 2007, Cichocki successfully merged his passion for environmentalism with his winemaking career by joining Bonterra Organic Estates, a leading winery committed to regenerative organic agriculture practices and environmental stewardship.

During Cichocki’s tenure with Bonterra Organic Estates, he was instrumental in developing the winery’s diverse portfolio of award-winning wines crafted from organically grown grapes. Bolstered by growing demand for organic wine, the Bonterra brand has more than doubled in size since Cichocki joined the company, achieving a production of half a million cases in 2023. This remarkable growth underscores the exceptional quality of wines crafted under his guidance.

“Our winemaking team at Bonterra is a great group of passionate individuals who share a deep commitment to organic and Regenerative Organic Certified practices,” says Cichocki. “I will miss being part of this collaborative group every day, but I’m confident they will continue to produce exceptional wines that contribute positively to the world.”

Recently, Bonterra Organic Estates announced powerhouse winemaker Margaret Leonardi-Pruett will helm the brand’s beloved Bonterra Collection as Senior Winemaker, beginning with the 2024 vintage. She will collaborate with Senior Winemaker Sebastian Donoso in fueling the brand’s burgeoning momentum.
